Health briefs: September is National Preparedness Month

Residents can learn about preparing their homes, as well as protecting their families, from unforeseen emergencies.

Good health more than just physical

When people think about good health, physical health typically comes to mind. However, good health includes not only the physical component, but the mental component as well -- you can't have one without the other.

Yellow Brick Road to weight loss

If your doctor recommended you lose just 10 pounds, would you? What if that doctor were Dr. Oz -- the one dubbed "America's doctor" by Oprah, "Dr. Does-It-All" by the New York Times, and "the hunk in blue scrubs" by adoring female viewers?

Men's Health Series 'I have H Poly what?'

"Why spend the money to go to the doctor if I already know I am healthy and feel good?" These are the infamous words spoken by most men, but specifically Jim Beverley of Naperville. By age 46, he hadn't been to the doctor in years because "he had been healthy his whole life and why spend the money just to have someone tell him what he already knew."
